Italy Dance Study Abroad Now Accepting Applications
Students will be actively immersed in Italian and French culture and presented rich study content in Dance History, Pedagogy, and Choreography in Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Florence, and Castellana Grotte. Students will participate in historical lecture and movement experiences, utilize local architecture and artistic masterworks as a catalyst for the creation of movement and study of compositional structure, and learn the origins of the Italian/French methodology of ballet training while on location. They will also participate with other students and professionals in a global dance workshop studying a variety of dance forms and choreography with internationally renowned faculty. Students will have performance opportunities as part of the workshop and have the option to participate in an international dance competition.

Department of Dance presents April graduates
The Department of Dance, School of Music, Music Dance Theatre Program and Department of Theatre and Media Arts celebrated graduates during a combined convocation in the de Jong Concert Hall on April 22, 2016. The gathering commenced with Dean Ed Adam’s welcome followed by a trombone and piano duet by Lyman Keil McBride and Alissa Marie Freeman. Elizabeth Lloyd Lowe will give her speech on “The Power of Communication” before a musical performance by MDT students and a dance number by dance students. Jeremy Grimshaw presented the master’s degrees and Shayla Bott, Jeffrey Shumway and Stephanie Breinholt presented the graduates.
