Voyage of dance and music presented by the BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble

Nagada Nagada Bollywood Dance | BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble

The BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble released its first ever music video of the Bollywood Indian dance “Nagada Nagada.” The film crew and dancers worked hard for more than 12 hours in one day to get all the shots needed for the video. It was filmed at the Hare Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, UT.

American Folk Dance Ensemble performs in Burgos, Spain

Children reading the Folk Dance pamphlet they received at the parade in Burgos, Spain The Folk Dance Ensemble had a busy week participating at the International Folklore Festival in Burgos, Spain. It was the 39th annual festival in the city, which is a huge event with hundreds of volunteers, dancers and musicians. Each evening performance was for an audience of nearly 4,000 people, in addition to being broadcast live to three million viewers.

American Folk Dancers Now Head to Venice, Italy and Burgos, Spain

The American Folk Dance Ensemble performs for a large crowd in front of the theater in Karlovac. The Folk Dance Ensemble received boisterous applause from the audience at the opening ceremonies of the Karlovac Croatian Folk Dance Festival. Performing in a different village outside of Karlovac each evening throughout the week allowed the dancers and musicians to see the beautiful Croatian countryside and meet new people. They also had the opportunity to visit the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park, considered to be one of the most beautiful natural sights in Europe. The waterfalls and pristine lakes were breath-taking.

American Folk Dance Ensemble to Perform at Festival in Croatia

The American Folk Dance Ensemble and local church members learn from a Croatian dance professional. The American Folk Dance Ensemble arrived safely in Zagreb, Croatia on July 3rd. After a pleasant day of sightseeing at historical sites, the Folk Dancers met that evening with members of the Zagreb LDS Branch. The Folk Dance Ensemble performed several American dances, after which they danced with the members, learning simple “pioneer” dances taught by Colleen West.

Young Ambassadors Present Last Devotional for 2015 Spring Tour

Appreciative audiences enjoy the color, lights and muscianship of the Young Ambassadors on the outdoor stage Sunday morning after church meetings, the group met in the west theatre of the Visitors’ Center for one final devotional together before driving to the airport and back to life at home. Nauvoo was life-changing for each Young Ambassador as well as for many new friends they met in the numerous performances and service activities of the tour. The Young Ambassadors are already asking the question: “When can we come back to Nauvoo?”

The Young Ambassadors are warmly welcomed into the mission president's home upon arriving in Nauvoo. The Young Ambassadors’ Nauvoo experience started Monday, June 1st, at 4 a.m. in the Richards Building parking lot where they met to depart. The group eventually arrived at their home for the next two weeks–Nauvoo Villas, where David and JoAnna Miller and their family have provided lodging and lovingly prepared and delivered lunches and dinners for the group all week long.

BYU Living Legends Completes Successful Tour

Living Legends made a stop at Denali National Park as they traveled from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Group members took hikes and explored the Visitor Center. The Living Legends concluded a highly successful tour to Montana, Canada, and Alaska this past month with a final appearance in Anchorage. Past presenter Stephanie Thompson, working with the BYU Alumni Chapter, organized wonderful concert opportunities. Jodi and Treg Taylor, co-chairs of the BYU Alumni Chapter, summed up the impact the group was able to make in Anchorage:
