The Brigham Young University Department of Dance presents a senior project showcase Friday, Aug. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 169 Richards Building.
The showcase will feature the choreographic work of seniors graduating in dance. The work is the result of senior projects performed as a capstone experience for the students. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
BYU dance student Danielle Murray’s piece, “Wonli,” will be performed by a group of student dancers including Katie Horne and Heidi Johnson, and accompanied by Lindsey Stirling’s musical selection, “Elements.” Hailey Savage will perform “Witraz,” choreographed by Hilary Wolfley, which was inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:12.
The concluding performance will be Micah Taylor’s piece, “From Point A to B,” accompanied by a musical selection entitled “Robot Planet” and a group of student dancers including Aubry Dalley and Claudia Oliva.
The project allows students to demonstrate their understanding of performance, technique and composition. Work on the projects usually begins during Winter semester for most students.
