Please join us for the premier of Full Circle, a compelling new documentary film that tells the story of how one performance by a BYU dance group 30 years ago would inspire a legacy of future dancers in China.
The show premiered Sunday, October 5, and is now available on demand at BYUtv.org. The feature is directed by Blair Treu who also executive produced, wrote, and directed the upcoming, Meet the Mormons documentary opening in theaters nationwide on October 10.
Full Circle tells the story of a Chinese couple who, after watching the BYU Ballroom Dance Company performance on state run CCTV, cross a cultural divide to attend BYU, and take up ballroom dance themselves. Decades later, the couple compete professionally and now operate a dance studio in Guangzhou. The one-hour documentary comes “full circle” when 30 years later, the Ballroom Dance Company returns to China, not only dancing for the Chinese but with the Chinese. In so doing, the second generation of US and Chinese dancers discover new friendship through the international language of dance.
