Brigham Young University hosts the 41st National DanceSport Championships Nov. 11-12 in the ballroom of the Wilkinson Student Center.
The showcase features the finest ballroom dancing from university students and the surrounding intermountain west competitors. The event is sanctioned by the National Dance Council of America and presented by the Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Division.
“This year we have an exciting showcase as we present World Professional Champions Andre and Natalie Paramonov showcasing their beautiful and thrilling dances,” said Brent Keck, assistant ballroom professor. “The intimate setting of the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom creates an up close and personal feel that invites the audience to cheer on these young and vibrant dancers.”
More than forty competitive categories give beginning, intermediate and advanced dancers the opportunity to showcase their ballroom talents. Hundreds of ballroom dance couples of all ages are also able to vie for championship titles in the open categories of Latin, Ballroom, Smooth, Rhythm and Cabaret.
BYU students who are enrolled in the ballroom dance classes taught at BYU are able to experience competitive dancing using their class routines in a collegial, supportive and fun environment.
Competition events begin early on Friday, Nov. 11 and continue through Saturday evening, Nov. 12. All events are located in the main ballroom at the BYU Wilkinson Center. Tickets are now available at the BYU Harris Fine Arts Center or Marriott Center ticket offices. Please visit byudancesport.com for further information.
