Nathan Balser, originally from Springville, UT, and a graduate of Brigham Young University (BS) and the University of Utah (MFA) is an Assistant Professor of Contemporary Dance. He is currently the artistic director of Contemporary Dance Theatre, a student performing and touring dance group at BYU. He teaches all levels of contemporary modern dance plus various levels of jazz, ballet and musical theatre dance. His performance career includes Broadway shows Promises, Promises with Kristen Chenoweth, Legally Blonde, 9 to 5: The Musical, Damn Yankees as well as National Tours of Mamma Mia!, Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, and Minsky’s. He has danced with Repertory Dance Theatre, John Malashock and dancers, Molissa Fenley, Contemporary Dance Works, and Odyssey Dance Theatre. Nathan also enjoys choreography and you may have seen his work at Sundance Summer Theatre for the shows Annie Get Your Gun and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. He also choreographs for CDT, the Young Ambassadors and On Broadway Academy. His greatest love is his wife and four children.
