I am from Eagle, Colorado and I am 21 years old. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and I can honestly say it has molded me into the person I am today. I have the privilege of dancing and traveling Southeast Asia and Australia with Feld Entertainment producing a Disney Live show. It was great to come back to China and learn even more about it. I am grateful to be a student and ambassador of Brigham Young University.
Reflections on Visiting China
It is hard to keep this simple and tell you just a few of my favorite parts of our wonderful experience in China. What a blessing and life lesson it was to be able to travel to share a beautiful talent. Many of the performers, including myself, worked really hard, lost sleep, suffered sore muscles, sweat a lot and even cried a couple of times prior to the performance. Once I stepped on to the stage of the Giant Egg in Beijing, China, I realized that all of the pain, sweat and tears were worth it. I will never forget the feeling while I was performing in the show. I felt very happy and extremely blessed to be where I was, with the people I was with, at that exact moment. I will forever keep that memory close to my heart.
I also learned that I care deeply for each of my company members. I was able to grow closer to them through this experience. The company unity was very powerful. Our company family expanded in a matter of days – we wanted to love everyone and have them be a part of us. By the end of the week, many of the CDT members were trying to figure out how to bring some of the BDA dancers back home with us. We became a family after just a simple “Encounter.” I loved seeing this happen and I am grateful for the chance to have been a part of it.
Overall, my experience in China was a beautiful and fulfilling opportunity. I am grateful for all that were able to make this “Encounter” part of my life.
