Live Auditions in Person
Applicants must complete an audition in person or by online video submission that demonstrates their dance performance ability. Applicants who choose to audition in person will perform in front of members of the BYU Dance Faculty on the BYU Campus.
Preview Day & Audition Days
Friday, November 10 – Preview Day
Students are invited to learn about our dance program at BYU! Participants will have the opportunity to interact with current dance majors and faculty, take ballet and contemporary technique classes, observe company rehearsals, and meet other potential dance majors from throughout the region! This event is FREE and includes a complimentary lunch for those who enroll by November 3, but enrollment is limited.
Saturday, November 11 – Audition Day
Potential students may elect to audition for ballet or contemporary scholarships or both. Dancers will participate in an advanced technique class followed by pointe work for females. Click here for more information about the BYU Department of Dance Dress Code.
Video Auditions Online
Applicants must complete an audition in person or by online video submission that demonstrates their dance performance ability. Applicants who choose to audition by video will need to record themselves following the requirements listed below and then submit a video audition application online.
Requirements for Video Auditions
For electronic submissions for ballet scholarships please record one video (6-10 minutes) with the following:
- Sample barre work, adage, pirouettes, petit allégro, grand allégro, pointe work for women (including pirouettes/fouettés), double tours and à la seconde turns for men.
- A classical variation. (on pointe for women)
- A contemporary ballet solo.
