BYU Young DanceMakers present ‘Dancepedia’

The BYU Young DanceMakers, the performing company of Brigham Young University’s Children and Teens’ Creative Dance Program present Dancepedia: Words That Move Us, on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center.

This year’s presentation, Dancepedia: Words That Move Us, explores the rhythms and patterns of how words can create movement as portrayed by these talented young dancers. Dancers will perform pieces that bring to life and define different words that evoke ideas and movement includingPlaygroundMachinesKaleidodance and Echo.

Under the direction of Kathleen B. Sheffield, with Malisalee Gardner assisting, The Young DanceMakers comprises 140 boys and girls ages 7-18 dancing their own ideas, in dances they have helped to create. Trained in technique, composition, improvisation, choreography and performance.  The Young DanceMakers embody the vitality and exuberance of children’s creative dance at its best.
